Church Services
Time & Place
Our regular services are held on the fourth Sunday of each month.from 11:00am – noon. (See About Us to learn how to keep informed on changes to service times and dates.)
The usual location of our services is the boardroom of the Civic Trust House on on Pope’s Quay in Cork city, across the river from Cork Opera House (Eircode: T23 R6XC).
What to Expect
Cork Unitarian Church services are not like other churches which might be highly liturgical or overmuch into preaching. Instead we have a very loosely flowing and flexible format. A typical service might flow something like this:
- We aspire to be punctual – services lasting 60 minutes.
- We sit at a large table or in a circle, facing each other. There is no front or back of the congregation. The focus is on the congregation – i.e. each other.
- There is usually coffee and tea.
- There will be some music
- A brief opening ceremony
- Not typically a single leader, rather different people would have been assigned to take the lead on different part of the service.
- There would be one to two inspiration readings chosen by the people doing those readings
- There would be an opportunity for everyone to propose intentions for our thought and prayers
- There would be a brief inspirational talk
- We would conclude with a closing blessing
See that… not too scary at all… and visitors are always welcome.
