Cork Unitarian Church Charter: Duty of Care

(Excerpted from the Duty of Care section of  the Cork Unitarian Church Charter)

Cork Unitarian Church shall fulfil its stewardship in a manner consistent with and conforming to the “Charities Governance Code” as specified by the Charities Regulator. This is summarized in the six principles of charity governance:

  • Advancing charitable purpose
  • Behaving with integrity
  • Leading people
  • Exercising control
  • Working effectively
  • Being accountable and transparent

Being ever mindful of the need for Cork Unitarian Church to be a safe haven for all, Cork Unitarian Church will conform to the “Guidelines for the Protection Of Children and Vulnerable Adults” as specified and updated, from time to time, by the Health Service Executive (HSE), TUSLA, and other regulatory bodies.

Being ever mindful of the need to maintain transparency, Cork Unitarian Church will conduct itself in compliance with the Charities Regualtor’s Conflict of Interest policy requirements.

Being ever mindful of the need to safeguard the confidentiality and privacy of all people served by Cork Unitarian Church, Cork Unitarian Church will conduct itself in compliance with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements.

Cork Unitarian Church, through its Board of Directors and various officers and committees, will seek to comply with all civil regulators and set up appropriate policies and procedures as needed to ensure compliance for best practices in health, safety, and governance.

The Church Board of Directors shall adopt and audit such financial policies and procedures as required to conform with all applicable civil statutes, civil regulators, and Governing Associations.

Note: All policies are reviewed and approved annually(with unanimous consent) by the Cork Unitarian Church Board of Directors.
